Quote by ElvesSo, personally, I'd love to see a cheerier color for them to be against. Or even a mock up of Shigure's porch, which is my ideal, of course.

Thanks as always for comment, even if it's late. And damn that is such a good idea, I wish I'd thought of it earlier! Granted I pretty much suck at scenic so that's probably why I took the easy way out -__- Next time maybe? I definitely got some "WHERE'S KYOOO" type comments on the last wall so hopefully if I do another Furuba wall it'll have him in some way shape or form xD;

Quote by ElvesJust wanted to let you know that your "lame laziness" posts on your last two walls made me smile. And they were good for a chuckle-pick-me-up. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's lazy...though I think your version of lazy is more productive than mine. I make squat; playing video games does not make one productive. Unless you count acquiring items in said video game. XD

Oh, I am so glad they made you chuckle, it seriously brings a smile to my face knowing I made someone laugh :3

*high fives* yeah, I sit and play video games too :D lol, yeah well I die in them and such, so I never advance ;__;

Quote by ElvesWhen I first read your post I thought you were someone who was a kid complaining that they couldn't join even though they'd be a fan, like, for~ever. Lol. XD But then I read the rest and just laughed in amusement and the, "ah yes, me too" factor. That's how I feel. Eighteen really is old in the world of anime nowadays, it seems. Oh well, what'r'ya'gonna do? At least they're legally called "adults." ;) Hehe. See ya around MT!

LOL! I figured the Oldsters was for minimum 25 ... maybe. Possibly even older but when I checked I had to laugh! Eighteen! I had to put a comment about that. I thought this might be a group I could join figuring it would be a group of folks around my age but it doesn't seem to be the case. Ah! I may join anyway just to see if it would be fun. I may end up enjoying it. Who knows eh? I can't remember what the legal age is in Canada, I always thought it was sixteen, but even twenty year olds look young to me. Well in the eyes of the government, they can pay taxes like everyone else :)

Quote by ElvesVery nice. The arrangement of the circle and square shapes is right on. And the pink theme works surprisingly well. Though I'm not too sure about the shadow effect that's behind the characters, I personally am not thrilled with that aspect. However, I do like the simplicity of the wall overall, and your vector is awesome. :)
Another note: Make sure to tag your work! There are thieves out there (and some are none to bright) that will try and claim your work as their own, even if it is tagged. Put your mark on your art, that way you can say to those dirty thieves, "Hey stupid, that's my name down there on 'your' wall." Make sure to claim your work - it is yours after all and it's good! :pacman:

Thanks I'm glad you like it. Oh thanks for the tip too. I'll remember to do so next time!

Quote by ElvesAh crap...after my long hiatus I check up on you to see what I've missed in the Zuru line of wallpapers and I read that you're moving on!? Wtf?! But it's Zuru! T_T
*sigh*
;) Seriously though, I'd rather have you not burn out and still like the character than submit to my wishes of making more and more wallpapers. (Buwhahaha.) :) I've enjoyed the Zuru walls so much, that I don't mind that you're moving onto bigger and better. In fact, I'm looking forward to whatever else you give us here at MT. I really like the artistic style you're using, and you've grown in skill from the first wallies of Zuru, too. So keep it up! And I look forward to the future. :D

Thank you so much for your support! :D You have no idea how much I appreciate it! ^_^'

And yes, I'm currently lost for ideas for Zuru at the moment, but after drawing his island, there are some sparks here and there so the whole moving-onto-something-new part will possibly be dropped *fingers crossed* but nothing solid just yet ^^"

Hehe, I dunno if what I'm trying to improve on will be bigger and better though ^^" I'm just broadening my style of drawing more so that if I come back to Zuru, he will be bigger and better XD But I dunno :P

Anyways, thank you! :)

Quote by ElvesYou know, this isn't the first time this has happened to me. I'm calmly minding my own business, looking at wallpapers at MT, and then a wall featuring a show I don't even know catches my eye.
Yours did that to me.
Needless to say, I had to catch at least one episode of the show. So thanks for getting me addicted to yet another anime. ^_^'

Onto a short critique:
I like the simplistic approach to the wall. The rainbow colors really capture the mood (of what I've seen so far anyway) of the show. Whimsical. That's a good fit so far. I like that there's nothing flashy, but that does make the text within the rainbow colors sort of hard to read. I'm not sure, if anything, can really be done about it, and granted the that's not really the focus of the wall. So...just an observation. The whole thing is cute. And I like that the character's ties match the color they're standing in front of. Nice work on the wallpaper overall! :pacman:

Haha awesome! Thanks much - loved reading your comment :D I've gotten similar critique on the text being a bit hard to read (especially the yellow letter); I noticed myself before I submitted the wall, but using a darker shade of yellow threw off the soft overall scheme. If I do something similar next time, I might try messing with outlines a little more. Someone else also requested a black version of the wall - seemed like a good idea and I thought that would make the text pop a bit more so I gave it a shot. However that also looked really really strange, mainly 'cause I was too lazy to change the color banners in the back to make it fit with the dark background lol... Ah wellz. Next time! XD Thanks again for the thoughtful comment - very much appreciated ^^

Thanks for the comments on my wall!

Quote by ElvesI'm not gonna lie. You get bonus kudos points just for making a Mushishi wallpaper. They're so hard to find in my experience.

So true! Mushishi deserves more walls. ^_^

Anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to write such a detailed comment on my 'Gathering' wall, I really appreciate constructive criticism [and I agree with it, too - bonus!] I'll definitely try to get around to using your suggestions, since it was bothering me too - I did Ginko earlier than the rest of the wall, and my techniques changed in between.

Anyway, thanks again, and glad you liked it. :D

Quote by ElvesI really like the subtle texture on their clothes, and even though the swords are all the same one I think that just by changing the hilt colors it makes them all seem unique.
And I'm going to be a pain in the a$$ because I've seen rain fall straight down, but there was no wind. So that's just a technicality, but it does happen. ;) And this matter doesn't affect the fact that I really like the wall as is - I think the stark background adds to the desolation of the battlefield. Great job!

LOL! Ok ok, there's wind XD
Thanks for the comment <3

Hi Elves!

Quote by ElvesVery nice. I'm glad that you decided to clean up the scan instead of vectoring it; I really like the textures that are within the wall. Good work cleaning it too! For me, personally, I'd like to see the colors a little more vibrant (just a tad) right now the wall seems to be all of the same shade and a little flat because of it. Like the cross and the guy's tie would stand out more if the color pallet was a little warmer/varied. Otherwise, this is really cool. I love the text and how it dissolves into and out from behind the character(s). Very nice composition. Thanks for sharing! :pacman:

Thanks so much for the feedback! I greatly appreciate the comments and suggestions! You definitely have a knack for picking out the details of the wallpaper :) See you around!

Thanks so much for your kind words! It's always great to get feedback on the feedback. ;) That way I know that I'm not just spouting a bunch a hot air that nobody reads. lol. I added you to my watch list so I can catch more of your art - I'm always glad to leave comments (when time permits), and hopefully I'll get the same in return. :pacman: See you around MT!

Hi Elves! hehe, cool, I'll add you right back. I will also check out your work when I have time ^^

Quote by ElvesOMG XD - I love the cats! They're sooooo cute. *ahem* ^_^'

Really awesome job with the cats. I really like the soft blur to their eyes for some reason, probably because they look like they could contain a soul (or some other pseudo nonsense like that lol). From your description I almost wish their tails were forming a cliched heart, but alas. I probably would like it better in its current form anyway. ;) The lighter outline of the lamp's base seems a little harsh (possible jagged lines is what I'm seeing) so you might want to smooth it out a little - diffuse some light down upon the lamp so it's got highlights instead of an outline. But overall the lamp is awesome - great work with the light beams! The background is very fitting and I Love the cats! Did I mention that I love the cats? ^_^ Thanks bunches for sharing! :D I think this is going to become my wallpaper after I "submit post" hehe. :)

thanks so much for your comment on my Chat Noir, Chat Blanc wallpaper :)

Quote by Elves*ahem* KAWAI~I *cough* ;)

This is so cute, and as MapleRose stated, Zuru really resembles a chibi in this particular wall. I think he's just shorter than what I'm used to seeing and that's what's causing this effect, but there's nothing wrong with a chibi-fied Zuru. XD
I think you've gotten the perspective of Zuru right on, but the puddles seem just a little too long from top to bottom of the screen. I'd suggest that if they were a little more tilted towards the background/foreground it would match their perspectives up with Zuru's better. Right now the puddles seem to be shown from more of an higher overhead angle than Zuru, but that's just my opinion, and it's really hard to explain in textual form, so I hope that makes sense. Cool coloring and shading with this one. I also love the simplicity factor! Just cause a wall doesn't have a lot going on doesn't mean that it can't be awesome! :) And you're right, Zuru is the focal point and he's doing a job well done with that. Keep up the bunn-a-riffic work! :pacman: So sue me for the terrible play on words. ^_^' We can't all be cute little balls of fur. ;) hehe

Hmm... I personally think the puddles look fine, but I will try and draw more on a angle and experiment it a little further ^_^'
Yeah, I tried something a little different with the shading from the others cause I didn't want all my walls to look too similar
Hehe, good to know I've done good with this drawing of Zuru ^_^'
Thanks for your long comments! I will try and work on the puddles some more
(lol, bunn-a-triffic! XD)

And I dunno if you know, but I have a close-up version of Twilight under Twilight, so if you want to take a look at it, the link is in the description there ^^"

I did a tiny update on Breathe.
Check it out if you want :)

I sorta changed the puddles, so take a look if that was what you meant
Otherwise, I just enhanced the colors a bit ^_^'

Quote by ElvesYep, that's exactly what I was talking about with the puddles' perspective! (Woot! I apparently make sense while describing visual stuff with text. ;D ) By adjusting the large puddle it makes the non-existent-ground that Zuru is standing on become flatter and fits with Zuru's angle better. :) Awesomeness. *loves the fact that she saves all versions for comparisons* The wall looks pretty with the enhanced color too (though I think I may be particle to the muted tones, but that's just a personal preference. ^_^' ) Thanks for letting me know about the updated version! Keep up the great work!

Hehe, good to know I got it right! :D Not that there was anything I didn't understand ^_^' I think the puddles look better now too, so thanks for pointing that out ^_^'

No problem about the update, and thanks for the comments and support! I really appreciate it :D

Quote by ElvesI like how you separated the background with two different colors to match both Fye's personalities. You picked a good spot to blend them as well. Nicely done. However, I do have a few suggestions: I really like your text, but with all the white in the background it makes the text really hard to read. Adding a simple drop shadow behind the text (or outlining it) would really help to make it easily legible while leaving white. My other suggestion would be to remove the white dots that are over the image and the entire(?) wall. It' distracting, and it makes me think that the character(s) need to use a lint roller on their clothes. ^_^' Overall you've got a very nicely composed wall and I like the spiky-things that are behind the two Fyes, and how these too are contrasting colors. Keep it up! I hope to see more. :)

^

thanx for your comment, I like people who give their sugestion for improvement XD
for the text I also noticed that it wasn't very legible, but the thing is it has a drop shadow effect but still wouldn't do it cause that font is really "slim" (if you know what I mean) so I did a outline, but a white one for it to be more "fat" (I can't remember the english words) I could have changed its colour but I didn't think of any other that would fit well.
As for all the dots I wanted it to have a snowy feeling (because fye brings snow to my mind) and wanted them to blend with the bg, to look like there was snow all around, but maybe you're right, it's kinda distracting in their clothes -_-

Here's a card I made for chinese new year :)

Quote by segnojYou made me squee again. ^_^' lol Zuru is soooo cute in this! (Great job with the sign, angle/perspective, and Zuru's expression). Thank you very much sir, I am honored to be thought of on this most joyous occasion. <= Just cause it's cool and I'm such a huge Fruits Basket fan. :) I think this pic would make a great wallpaper, too. ;)

Happy Chinese New Year to you too! :pacman:

Hehe, your very welcome for the card! :D I don't think I will make this image as a wall though just cause I made it especially for chinese new year ^_^'
Thank you for your wishes! :)

And also to note, I may submit a close-up version of twilight but maybe later ^_^'
Thanks again!

Quote by ElvesWhy must you make me *squee* like a little school girl again? ;) lol
I'm beginning to really love Zuru, and I don't even know what he's all about, but your drawings have that much emotion in them that I just can't help myself.
Though I find myself asking of this particular wall, "Why is Zuru napping on a wall?" Then I had to remind myself that Zuru has those squinty-all-the-time-eyes. So even though I think of him as napping, maybe he's awake and thinking. So some of what may be trying to be said in the artwork may be a little lost. I do like the pencil texture, however, the textures outside of the defining outline that are still part of the inside may be a little overdone. I like how the pencil was been taken beyond it's "boundaries" but feel that it may be a little too defined - though that's being a tad nit-picky on my part. I like the tree as well and how it swoops down almost patting Zuru on the head - though it would technically have leaves covering up those branches underneath :) . I also like the added touch of the falling leaves. Very nice.
Awesome original piece (I wanna see the rest of it! XD ) - can't wait to see more! :pacman:
Great work

Well Zuru isn't really about anything at the moment since I just made him up and decided I wanted to draw more of him to improve my drawing skills ^^"
But I have never thought that Zuru would affect so many people ^_^'

And I updated the wall so if you want you can check it out :)
I'm not really sure where exactly you were criticizing about, so could you point out any specific areas?

merged: 02-11-2007 ~ 10:14am

Quote by ElvesThe "out-side-the-boundary pencil" that I mentioned in the previous post was right at the top of his head and runs slightly down the ear which is pointed downwards, between his sleeve and that same ear [this sort of forms a squarish area], and just a wee bit where his collar and his kimono meet on his left arm (our right) . The shading here is just a little strong (and it's more noticeable in this newer version). Don't get me wrong, I do like the effect, but these places seem to extend farther than just beyond the outline (I hope that makes sense). I think that just lightening these sections up would...hrm...I guess I'll go with "appease me." ;) (Had to say that, couldn't resist - though I'm glad/hope you took/take my comments seriously.) The only other suggestion I would make would be to put a little more shadow-shading on the rocks. You started to under the bridge, so something like that extended to the rest of them.

I followed your suggestion and saw what you meant about it being a bit too dark ^^" So I just made it a little lighter since he is after all under the shades of the tree so it would naturally be a bit darker anyway, yeah?

I added some shadows to the rocks also. I think now it has more depth to it than it looking as if its gonna fade away ^_^'

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I think it looks a better now after the slight changes ^_^'

Quote: Overall, I'm really happy to see the whole thing and I think the composition is wonderful! I really like the calmness of the stream allowing a view of the rocks in the riverbed around the support beams - way cool - and also, very nice use of toning down the details under the water while keeping the same feel of what's above the submergence level. Nice. Thanks so much for submitting the whole version! :D :pacman:

No problem, great to know you enjoying seeing my Zuru walls :D
